The Waveform plugin

The waveform plugin generates values which may be assigned to FX parameters, or to control any aspect of VDMX (any slider or button may be synched to the waveform plugin).

  • There are seven buttons across the button of the plugin, which let you choose between seven different kinds of waves: Square, Ramp Saw, Sin, Cos, Random, and Drunk.
  • You may change the name of your waveform plugin by opening the PluginManager, double-clicking on your waveform's name, and entering new text.

  • It's important to notice that each of the wave-type buttons are also standard vvbuttons - meaning that they can each be assigned to shortcuts, or groups of the assigned to a button. [see Button Plugin]
  • The rate (frequency) of the wave is relative to the clock BPM. Therefore, a rate 1.00 is exactly 1 measure of the clock BPM. The rate slider can be manipulated like any other slider, moving it manually, automating it through data sources, mouseXY control, using the max and min limiters, etc..
  • The waveform differs from the oscillator in that it is purely generative. The oscillator plugin will simply loop through the wave drawn in it, the waveform will generate values "on demand".
