Optimizing Grid Pro

The GRID Pro audio player is an easy way to add a musical element to a live performance or as a source for the built-in audio analysis module when working in studio. The audio player lets you organize your music into customized playlists of your favorite songs that can be saved and loaded back for later use.

Opening and closing the audio player

To open the audio player window, click the expand button below the musical notes in the GRID Pro toolbar.

Making a new playlist

To create a new blank playlist, click the new playlist button. This will clear any songs on the current playlist. Once the new playlist has been created, you can enter a name for the playlist by clicking in the text area next to the words EDIT NAME then pressing the enter key.

Adding files to a playlist

Songs can be added to the playlist either one at a time, or by loading an entire folder at once. To add a single sound file, click the Add Song button in the audio player interface. A dialog box will come up asking you to locate the sound file you wish to load. To add an entire folder of songs, click the Load Folder buttton. This will bring up a dialog box asking you to select the folder of files you wish to load.

The audio player can load most audio formats supported by Quicktime, including AIFF, WAVE, and MP3.

Moving songs around in a playlist= To change the position of a song in the playlist, simply click and hold down on the name of the song you wish to move and drag it to the desired location in the playlist.

Playing songs

To begin playing back a playlist, click the Play button in the audio player transport controls. The previous and next song buttons can be used to move backwards or forwards in the playlist. To jump to a specific song in a playlist immediatly double click on it's name in the playlist. The name of the currently playing song will be displayed in the transport area and the toolbar in the main GRID Pro window.

It is possible to jump to any point in the currently playing song by clicking on the progress bar located in the audio player transport controls. The progress bar shows the current position of the playhead along with the total length of the currently playing track.

Volume and balance controls

The volume level and position within the left/right stereo of the audio output can be adjusted using the volume and balance controls in the audio player interface.

Loading playlists

To load a playlist, select it from the Playlist Menu in the audio player interface. Playlists are stored in the GRID Pro Playlists folder. To remove an undesired playlist from this menu, in the Finder move the playlist out of the Playlists folder. The file will no longer show in the menu the next time you launch GRID Pro.
